Brabus “Pimps” the new Mercedes E-Class Coupe

The recently launched Mercedes E-Class Coupe just got an upgrade package from the wicked tuners from BRABUS. Running on a beefed up 6.1-liter V8 engine (from 5.5-liter) that outputs 462 hp (340 kW) and 615 Nm (453 lb-ft) of torque, the new Mercedes-Benz E500 features a billet crankshaft, larger pistons, and special four-valve cylinder heads with custom camshafts. With a stainless-steel quad exhaust systems and a stylish exterior that sweats power from every little joint, BRABUS sure managed to amaze us this time. Barack Obama;s Cadillac ; presidential limo revealed [Obamamobile]

Behold 'The Beast': Barack Obama's all-new Cadillac presidential limousine. Nicknamed ‘The Beast’, the limo is based on a number of GM platforms and shares components with several different vehicles.

“Cadillac is honored to again provide a new Presidential Limousine,” said Mark McNabb, North America vice president, Cadillac/Premium Channel. “This is a great American tradition that we’re delighted to renew with an all-new car featuring the best of Cadillac’s dramatic design and technology.”

These extreme modifications, include:

Armour-plated doors that are eight inches thick - each weighing the same as a cabin door on a Boeing 757 airliner.

The boot contains an independent oxygen supply and advanced fire-fighting system.

Defence systems include pump-action shotguns, night-vision cameras and tear-gas cannons. Supplies of the President's blood will also be kept on board in case he needs emergency medical treatment.

The petrol tank is armour-plated, while also being filled with specially designed foam to prevent it from exploding if the armour is penetrated.

Tyres on the limousine are Kevlar-reinforced, puncture- and shred-resistant, with special steel rims that allow the car to continue driving even if the tyre is missing.

The bodywork is made up of a combination of dual-hardness steel, aluminium, titanium and ceramic material to help break up projectiles aimed at the car.

Cadillac has provided cars to America's presidents since Woodrow Wilson, who needed a car to ride in during a World War 1 victory parade in 1919.

The new 2010 Ford Shelby GT500 delivers the most power and refinement ever for a Ford SVT-tuned performance Mustang – and a few surprises, too.

“We’re proud of the many enhancements that were developed jointly by the Ford and Shelby Automobiles team last year that we’ve now incorporated into the new 2010 Shelby GT500,” said Carroll Shelby, founder of Shelby Automobiles. “Building on what we learned to create the Shelby GT500KR, this new car offers a great combination of power, handling and braking. It is truly a special car that is a great deal of fun to drive.”

The 2010 Shelby GT500 is powered by a supercharged and intercooled 5.4-liter dual overhead cam V-8 engine expected to produce 540 horsepower and 510 foot-pounds of torque. The redline is 6,250 rpm. The car’s aluminum power dome hood not only adds to the Shelby’s appearance, it helps cool the engine through a hood extractor.

The Shelby’s open-element air induction system features a conical air filter instead of a flat-panel closed system to reduce air restriction. This approach allows more air to be pumped through the engine, producing more power and increasing the engine’s efficiency. A cold-air intake feeds the coolest air possible directly into the air box, helping further increase horsepower. The intake necessitated moving the Cobra snake badge to the other side of the grille to enable maximum airflow.

Roughly half of the US's fifty one light vehicle plants are projected to permanently close in the coming years with the loss of another 200,000 jobs in the sector, on top of the 560,000 jobs lost this decade.
